ABOUT SIERRA K BARTER

Hi, I'm Sierra Barter. My journey into the arts started in the laid-back mountain town of Tahoe City in Lake Tahoe, where I fell in love with ballet and modern dance at a young age. During my teenage years, I had the incredible opportunity to attend prestigious dance intensives in big cities, where I was captivated by the vibrant worlds of art, poetry, alternative music, and fashion.

At 18, I moved to New York City to train at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. It was there that an acting class completely hooked me, sparking a new passion. An injury eventually led me to Los Angeles, where I embraced acting wholeheartedly, training at the Ruskin School, The Upright Citizens Brigade, and The Groundlings.

I earned dual BAs in Film and Media and Gender and Women's Studies from UC Berkeley, focusing my studies on the representation of mixed-race women in television and film. This academic background has given me a critical perspective on representation and storytelling, which I bring into my work in the film industry.

I am passionate about creating inclusive spaces in media and film that generate reciprocal experiences for all parties involved. I am dedicated to ensuring that the ethical representation of characters and persons is present on screen. My unique experience of working in front of and behind the camera gives me the ability to empathize and communicate with many different job titles within a production. I aim to work with companies that are committed to inclusivity and ethical storytelling and work to reflect the diverse lives of all kinds of people.
